Veerane Tak Jana Hai by Vishal Bagh | Book Review

A Collection of Beautiful Urdu Poetry – Book Review of Veerane Tak Jana Hai by Vishal Bagh

This year has seen me reading a lot of poetry in Hindi/Urdu, English, Bengali and Marathi. Recently after completing “Elgaar by Suresh Bhatt” which was also an amazing collection of marathi ghazals I have got my hands on yet another beautiful book of Hindustani Poetry/Ghazals.

Vishal Bagh’s Veerane Tak Jana Hai is a book that speaks to your heart. With its expressive and eloquent verses/couplets, the book manages to impress the reader in no time. Read on to know more about my thoughts on the book and about my experience of reading it.

Veerane Tak Jana Hai is a book that explores abstract themes and feelings while indulging our emotional side. It is a book that ought to be celebrated not just because it is well written, but also because it enables one to celebrate a wide range of feelings: love, redemption, pain, nostalgia, and many more.

A thought that stayed with me all throughout the book was that these ghazals when poured in classical music would make breathtaking songs; the words and emotions being so relatable that I will be surprised if they are not turned into mainstream ghazal songs sooner or later, which i’d love to hear performed by some classical vocalists in future.

For me poetry has always been very mystical, a work of art very few can achieve. In “Veerane Tak Jana Hai” there are poems/ghazals that settle in your heart, there are some that tickle your soul. Yet, there are some which come like a soft cold breeze, delicate at first yet sturdy enough to stick with you for a lifetime. Vishal Sir’s work has the strength to be with you for a lifetime, settling at your heart, warming it with such cheerfulness that you shall fall in love with Urdu poetry even if you haven’t read it before.

The language used is quite rich, the soft tone woven in simple words is the specialty of Vishal Bagh’s poetry. Each poem carries an in depth meaning which increases the beauty. The metaphors used in almost all the poems are authentic & untouched. I’ve never experienced this beautiful metaphorical journey. Every poem gives you a new aura and feel.

The readers can relate with almost every poem since they are written based on our life experiences and explorations. These poems can be read by a wide range of audience since the subject matter is not definite but varied. This poetry collection is bound to appeal to all the readers and it will be engraved in the memory for a long period of time.

Conclusion

Veerane tak jana hai is a superb compilation which is akin to an enjoyable journey encapsulating complex yet delicate pieces of writing adorning it. Vishal Bagh’s writing will surely strum the heartstrings of any poetry lover. Go dive deep into the oceans of these enthralling poems, prepare to get lost in the folds of the words, paddling deep into the emotional waves they present, taking you through the sands of time.

Happy reading!

I’am mentioning below some of my favorite Ashaars from the book
